Maria is the author of Farty Marty, a delightfully silly picture book about a shy little pig with unexpectedly powerful toots. What began as a playful idea quickly grew into a full story with heart, humor, and a gentle message about self-acceptance. With bright, expressive illustrations by Manfred Calderón, the book blends classic picture-book charm with laugh-out-loud moments that kids adore.

But Maria’s creativity doesn’t stop at writing. When she’s not working on new stories, you’ll find her drawing, digitally painting, or playing cozy video games like Stardew Valley. She’s a maker at heart, always crafting something new, whether it’s a character, a scene, or a world.

Her home in Alaska plays a quiet but constant role in her work.
